Build Muscle Memory - Prepare for this grab by doing several wake jumps using the following technique. Once you're in the air, bring both of your legs up to your body. Don't try to grab yet, that's Step 2. Once you're solid on this activity, move on to Step 2.
- Get Your Grab On - Now all you have to do is let go of the rope with your right hand and reach down with your arm (not your body) and grab the board in between your legs on the heel edge of the board. To do this, you'll want to reach around your right leg and grab in between your bindings. It helps on this trick to extend or bone out your right leg to make the grab easier. Once you feel the board, grab onto it like it's a wad of $100 bills.
Once you've mastered the stalefish grab and it has become second nature to you, try tweaking or boning it out. You can also try combining it with one of your more difficult wake tricks (i.e. 180's, flips, spins, etc.).
