WW: Let's start with a little introduction. What is your name, age and where are you from?
IP: My name is Igor Perov, 21 and I'm from Moscow (Russia)

WW: What got you started in wakeboarding?
IP: I started with snowboarding. Russian winter, you know, is much longer than summer. Just when I felt good enough on the snowboard, I decided to take a new height to try the same on the water and bought a wakeboard.

WW: Were you involved in any other water sports before wakeboarding?
IP: Yeah, at the age of six I started waterskiing. My dad taught me.

WW: How long have you been wakeboarding?
IP: Just a season.

Igor Perov
WW: Are there a lot of wakeboarders in Moscow?
IP: Wouldn't say there are a lot of wakeboarders here presently, but every year I see more and more youngsters come to wakeboarding.

WW: What is your favorite place to ride in Russia?
IP: I usually ride on the lake next to my summer house. There's still water there and nobody on, but me. I like also the Moscow-river bay near the small settlement - Rublevo, not far from Moscow. It's well equipped with kickers and rails, but there are too much people there, so I prefer the lake, which is still fully in my possession.

WW: Who do you usually ride with and how often do you go?
IP: I ride with my friends. They are also beginners. Try to ride three times a week at least, but, you know, it depends on weather. Well, and mood to a certain extent.

Igor Perov
WW: How many months out of the year do you ride?
IP: Here in Moscow we can ride for four months a year outdoors. The rest of time we train ourselves in the pools. [See video]

WW: What tricks are your favorite tricks to do and are you working on new tricks now?
IP: Don't forget, I am just a beginner, so I am just learning to do tricks like grab, back grab, etc.

WW: What kind of board and bindings do you have?
IP: I have a Hyperlite Parks 143 and Nice bindings

WW: Do you have a boat?
IP: Yeah, I have a cutter, but, unfortunately, it doesn't suit to wakeboarding. This year I am going to buy a new one to indulge in wakeboarding seriously and become a cool wakeboarder. Promise you another interview when I win a prize in some serious contest (laughs).

Igor Perov
WW: Do you have access to "wakeboard" boats like Nautique, Tige, Malibu, MasterCraft, etc.?
IP: Sure yes, we have access to those boats!

WW: Do you have cable parks in your area?
IP: Sure we have. In Rublevo there is a cable park with kickers and rails.

WW: Is it hard to find wakeboarding equipment in your area?
IP: Wouldn't say there are some problems with wakeboarding equipment. We have a lot of Internet shops selling it. We have also a huge five-floor trade center, "Extreme," where there are a lot of shops selling goods for the active way of life. Should say that Russia is an "extreme" country from various points of view.

WW: Do you have any other hobbies outside of wakeboarding?
IP: Oh yeah, I like to make extreme video films and make cool video clips. I like also cars and street racing accordingly.

Igor Perov
WW: Do you plan on coming to the U.S. to wakeboard some time?
IP: Sure, I'd like to come and see the real professional level of wakeboarding! Truly to say we also have cool riders. Nikita Martemyanov, for example. He won a Europe Cup and was the third at the World Championship in the "Open Man" category.

WW: Who would you like to thank?
IP: First of all, my dad. He set me a taste to water sports still in my childhood. Would like to thank also organizers of Russian wakeboarding championships. Well, and sure WakeWorld. It opens a marvelous world of wakeboarding for beginners and keeps old aces updated... like me!
