WW: What's up Peter?
Peter: Playing on the computer, dreaming of wakeboarding.

WW: Okay, put all that aside and let's start this…tell us your name, age and location
Peter: Peter Chandler, 31, Novato, California.

WW: How long you been riding?
Peter: Too long to remember, since directionals.

WW: Did it come with sandals?
Peter: I couldn't learn to water ski so I bought a Perez and, yes, it had sandals.

WW: Did you do any tricks on that board?
Peter: Yeah, cool grabs and tried to jump and land switch. The boat had no wake.

WW: What kind of boat was it?
Peter: 16 foot Seaswirl with a 90 hp outboard. Even better is the fact that it was my girlfriend's at the time and she was an avid skier.

WW: Did she ride the directional?
Peter: She rode before I did.

WW: What was your first twin tip?
Peter: A Byerly 142 Flight 69, baby!

WW: Ahh...a classic! What was your first trick?
Peter: Wake to wake survival, grabs.

WW: Were you doing that behind the Seaswirl?
Peter: Yes, wakeboarding for me got serious when I bought my present boat, which was 7 years ago.

WW: And that boat is?
Peter: '93 Ski Nautique. I had one of the first extended pylons on my boat, which made a big difference.

WW: I know the first time I rode behind a boat with an extended pylon I was a bit intimidated. Were you?
Peter: No, it was a boat I had owned for years, but I would always get butterflies of excitement when I got to ride.

WW: So what tricks did you learn having the extended pylon?
Peter: All kinds of grabs, 180's, and I did hit my first roll before I learned about weighting a boat.

WW: Now, you've got a tower and fat seat and all the bells and whistles. Do you think all that stuff makes a big difference?
Peter: The weight does, and I hope the Perfect Pass I just installed lives up to its name. I hope to test it out this weekend.

WW: You also installed the tower yourself, didn't you?
Peter: No, Boss did that. It was their first fully collapsible tower. I installed the Newt Juice dispenser.

WW: So what do you do for a living?
Peter: I am an Auto Technician

WW: Do you have any other hobbies?
Peter: Oh boy, do I! Windsurfing, kiteboarding, mountain biking, camping, fishing, scuba diving...there are more.

WW: Swoopin' on girls?
Peter: Who me?

WW: Yeah, you!
Peter: Not even!

WW: Question about kiteboarding: Are you doing any tricks on it?
Peter: Still learning to jump comfortably.

WW: Do you see yourself hanging up the wakeboard for kiteboarding?
Peter: No way. I love hanging out on a boat with my friends.

WW: I know you've been to several wakeboard events. What was the first one you ever went to?
Peter: Boardstock on Scott Dickens' houseboat sponsored as the "Wake List" back in 1998. It was a blast!

WW: Recently, you went to LSF. What was that experience like?
Peter: Marty Head of Y2Kp puts on a great event and I will be sure to attend the next one he holds. LSF was about riding. I got a lot of water time behind some sick boats. If you needed a pull all you had to do was stand on the dock ready and someone would come by with a sweet boat too hook you up with a pull. Riders around the world all seem to unite when on the water.

WW: So how would you compare the riding scene in Louisiana to the scene here in Nor Cal?
Peter: We don't have alligators.

WW: Not that we know of! Who knows what's in the Delta, right? So what tricks are you landing now?
Peter: I can jump comfortably on all four edges. I spend much of my time now learning to ride switch better. I have a couple of inverts; heelside back roll, tantrum and I have always liked spins.

WW: What tricks are you working on or would like to learn?
Peter: I would like to be able to throw a TS invert, a switch invert, and I need to clean up my TS 540's in both directions.

WW: Who do you ride with and who pushes you the most?
Peter: You.

WW: Me? We've ridden what, 4 or 5 times?
Peter: Yeah, but you push me more than anyone else...seriously. The problem is that I do not have a coach.

WW: So how is it that we've only ridden together 4 or 5 times, yet I'm the one that pushes you the most?
Peter: The people I ride with do not push me nor can they tell me what I am doing wrong, at least for the technical part of what to clean up.

WW: I'm glad I'm able to help.
Peter: So how 'bout that 360 you owe me? See? Now it's my turn.

WW: We'll talk about that later! Are you planning on competing?
Peter: No, I ride for the fun of it.

WW: Okay, let's wrap this up. Any advice for new riders? Seasoned riders?
Peter: Wakeboarding is about fun. Just remember, we are all out on the water to have a good time, whether we are on skis, wakeboards or a knee something or another. Always do a good deed for the day (pick up at least one piece of trash each day) or maybe rescue someone.
