Nick and Mike Ennen Nick and Mike Ennen

WW: How old are you and where do you live?
NE: I am 24 years old and I live in Bellingham, Washington.

WW: How did you and your brother get into wakeboarding and how long have you been doing it?
NE: The way that Mike and I got into wakeboarding was every summer our whole family would move to our lake house at Big Lake in Mt. Vernon. Mike and I are the two yongest in our family of seven; four cousins and one older brother. We were all into water sports and just did anything that was fun to do on the water. We have been wakeboarding for about eleven years.

WW: Why do you ride?
NE: Because it was the fun thing to do in the summer.

Nick Ennen Nick Ennen
WW: Where do you ride and with whom do you ride?
NE: I ride on Big Lake in Mt. Vernon and Lake Samish in Bellingham and many other good spots all over the U.S. I ride with my brother, Brett V., Brent Star, Rick Knott, my cousins Jon and Ryan Tesarik and many other friends.

WW: What is your favorite thing about wakeboarding?
NE: Carving around on complete glass and hanging out on a nice boat with friends and girls.

WW: What is your favorite trick to do?
NE: 720

WW: What is your most difficult trick to do?
NE: 900

WW: You live and ride in Washington. Did the two of you ever consider moving to Florida and if so, why did you decide not to do it?
NE: Mike and I kind of always talked about it, but Washington has everything to offer for us in all sports and activities that we do. I enjoy visiting Florida but Washington is my way of life.

WW: Do you enjoy competing on the Pro Tour?
NE: I enjoy going to competions for the reason of just hanging out with everyone. Comps bring every one together and it is always a good time.

Nick Ennen Nick Ennen
WW: What local comps to do you ride at?
NE: I ride in NW Sessions. Mike and I were co-founders of NW Sessions and will always go to them because it is promoting the sport of wakeboarding in the NW.

WW: Do you get a chance to hit sliders and other obstacles where you ride?
NE: Yes, I go to Koppert lake where there is a slider park. Koppert is owned by a shop called Active Water Sports, which is one of my sponsors. I also build sliders at my lake house and in other spots here and there. I also hit sliders a lot when I am down in Florida.

WW: How often do you get to ride throughout the year?
NE: Normally, I only get to ride about five mounths out of the year, but Mike and I plan to ride all winter despite the cold. We also are planning to go to Australia for a month this winter.

WW: What other hobbies do you indulge in?
NE: Some of the hobbies that keep me busy when I am not wakeboarding are snowboarding, mountain biking, fishing, rock climbing and backpacking.

WW: What set up are you on these days?
NE: I am riding a Joyride wakeboard and CD bindings.

WW: Do you have a boat?
NE: Yes. I have a Malibu Wakesetter

Nick Ennen Nick Ennen
WW: Do consider youself more of a free rider or a tournament competitor?
NE: I do compete, yet I do consider myself a free rider. I like the contest just for the chance to hang out with a lot of friends and also to meet cool people.

WW: What advice would you give to individuals that are starting out?
NE: Some advice that I would give would be when you are learning tricks you should start with basic tricks such as all types of 180's and then work your way up from there. Without the basics, you will find that it is harder to progress in the sport because you can not do a 180.

WW: What is it about wakeboarding that makes you spend so much time doing it?
NE: I would have to say the reason that I wakeboard as much as I do would be because I love the feeling of learning something new and without the time on the water, it just makes it harder to do so.

WW: Do you wakesurf of wakeskate?
NE: Yes. The more activities on the water, the more fun it is.

WW: What do you see yourself doing with the sport?
NE: I see myself traveling around and promoting the sport of wakebaording. I am going to be doing a NW tour and also doing a lot of the Pro Tour.

Nick Ennen Nick Ennen

WW: Any sponsors?
NE: I ride for Joyride wakeboards, Malibu boats, NFA Clothing, Smith sunglasses, Acive Water Sports, Straitline Ropes, Jet Pilot, Titan Towers and CD bindings

WW: Would you like to thank anyone?
NE: The biggest thanks would have to be to my parents for always supporting me in the sport of wakebaording and everything that keeps me busy. Another person that has always been there for me in wakeboarding is Rob Hyatt. Rob has been putting so much effort into promoting wakeboarding and making sure that the right thing is going for the good of the sport and for the riders.

WW: Any shout-outs?
NE: One shout out would have to go to Steven Hahn for doing this interview with my brother and I and because he is from the northwest as well. I also want to shout out to all my sponsors for making everything work for me. Another huge shout out would have to go out to my parents because if they never would have introduced me into wakeboarding I would not have ever been doing this interview. The last shout out would have to go out to my uncle and aunt and my cousins because they where there through it all and have always supported me in my wakeboarding.
